There are regions in Transylvania where this wonderful music – handed down for many generations – has faded from memory, and with it the memory of many legendary, great musicians. Still, every now and then I find place in Transylvania where the younger generation has kept this significant part of our culture alive, preserving and nurturing a cultural resource that will continue to be essential and treasured for all Hungarian communities.<\/p>\n

May their music and their memory live on.<\/p>\n

A m\u00e9rai zen\u00e9szek <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>T\u00edz \u00e9ves voltam, amikor el\u00f5sz\u00f6r elker\u00fcltem Erd\u00e9lybe, a kalotaszegi M\u00e9ra k\u00f6zs\u00e9gbe 1963 kar\u00e1csony\u00e1n. \u00c9desany\u00e1m Borb\u00e9ly Jol\u00e1n \u00e9s nevel\u00f5ap\u00e1m Martin Gy\u00f6rgy az \u00fcnnepek alatt a kor\u00e1bbi \u00e9vekben megkezdett n\u00e9pzenei \u00e9s n\u00e9pt\u00e1nc gy\u00fbjt\u00e9st szerett\u00e9k volna tov\u00e1bb folytatni. Filmfelvev\u00f5 g\u00e9ppel, magnetofonnal, f\u00e9nyk\u00e9pez\u00f5g\u00e9ppel felszerelkezve \u00e9rkezt\u00fcnk Kolozsv\u00e1rra, majd onnan az els\u00f5 hajnali vonattal M\u00e9r\u00e1ba. Sz\u00fcleim falusi bar\u00e1tai egyben a n\u00e9prajzi gy\u00fbjt\u00e9sek “addatk\u00f6zl\u00f5i” – a T\u00f3tszegi \u00e9s a Varga csal\u00e1d voltak vend\u00e9kl\u00e1t\u00f3ink. Olyan szeretettel \u00e9s \u00f6r\u00f6mmel fogadtak, hogy \u00fagy \u00e9reztem mintha r\u00e9g nem l\u00e1tott vid\u00e9ki rokonokhoz \u00e9rkezt\u00fcnk volna Kar\u00e1csonyt \u00fcnnepelni. Most is j\u00f3 felid\u00e9zni azt a szeretetteljes hangulatot, ahogyan ez a k\u00e9t t\u00e1rsas\u00e1g \u00f6r\u00fclt egym\u00e1snak. Mint egy nagy csal\u00e1d, egy\u00fctt \u00fclt\u00fcnk az asztaln\u00e1l mikor az ablak alatt megsz\u00f3lalt a zene. A cig\u00e1nyok j\u00f6ttek k\u00f6sz\u00f6nteni ahogy szok\u00e1s.
